How to build a Kit landing page for a lead magnet
Turn one useful resource into a focused signup path. Build the page, configure delivery, test every step, and publish only after the subscriber experience works.

The smallest useful setup
Offer one specific resource to one clear audience. Use Kit’s hosted landing page, request only the information you need, deliver the resource through the incentive email, and test the complete path with an address you control.

We created a free Kit landing page using the workflow in this guide.
Get the software evaluation checklistHosted by Kit. Email confirmation is required to open the checklist.1. Choose one resource and one promise
A lead magnet should solve a narrow problem quickly. Start with a resource you can keep current, such as the freelance lead tracker, follow-up email templates, or software evaluation checklist.
Write a simple promise: “Get the editable checklist for reviewing freelance software before you pay.” The landing page, button, and delivery email should all describe the same outcome.
2. Create the landing page
In Kit, go to Audience growth → Landing Pages & Forms → + New → Landing Page. Choose a template that fits the amount of copy and imagery you need. Kit says a page cannot be switched to a different template later; changing templates requires creating a new page.
3. Keep the page focused
Use a clear headline, one short explanation, a few concrete details about what the subscriber receives, and one signup form. Ask only for the fields needed for delivery and future communication. Explain what emails will follow so consent is informed.
Headline
Name the result or resource.
Details
List what is included and who it helps.
Form
Use one clear action and minimal fields.
4. Configure confirmation and delivery
Open the page settings and review the incentive confirmation email. Kit documents this email as the place to deliver the promised lead magnet and enable double opt-in. Make the subject and button specific, check the sender details, and attach or link the correct file.
Choose what happens after signup: show a success message, use Kit’s built-in thank-you page, or redirect to an external thank-you page. The thank-you content should tell the subscriber to check their inbox and what to do if the email is missing.
5. Choose the page address
Kit hosts landing pages and provides a shareable URL, so a separate website or custom domain is not required. Start with the default Kit address to validate the offer. A custom domain is optional. If an existing website already uses the root domain, Kit recommends using a subdomain for the landing page; DNS verification may take 24–48 hours.
6. Review SEO, analytics, and safety settings
Complete the title and description in Kit’s SEO settings. Add analytics only when you have a clear measurement purpose and an appropriate consent approach. Review reCAPTCHA and the return-visitor setting before publishing.
7. Test the complete subscriber experience
- Open the page on desktop and mobile.
- Subscribe with an address you control.
- Confirm the success or thank-you message.
- Open the confirmation email and verify its sender, copy, and link.
- Confirm the correct resource downloads or opens.
- Check that the subscriber and intended source tag appear in Kit.
- Verify that future emails contain a working unsubscribe option.
8. Publish and measure one decision
Use Share → Publish and copy the public link. Kit notes that edits do not automatically save, so publish changes regularly while working. After launch, review visitors, subscribers, conversion rate, and referrers in the page report. Add UTM parameters when sharing through several channels so you can compare them.
